Canva Pro - Is It Worth It??

Whether you have experience with professional graphic design platforms like Adobe Photoshop or Corel Draw - or you're a complete graphic design newbie.....you are going to LOVE Canva. Let me tell you why......
As someone who has experience with both the aforementioned programs, I am continuously impressed with what I am able to design with Canva. Which is fantastic, because Adobe Photoshop costs more than I prefer to pay, and Corel Draw crashes on every computer I have owned and tried it on (how my sister ever successfully used it for graphic design in the past is beyond me!).
Of course, you can use Canva for free, as long as you like - and it still has a lot of great options for basic editing - but if you've been wondering if the Pro/Paid version of Canva is worth it, you're in the right place.

Is Canva Pro Worth It?
My answer to that question is 1000% YES - so let's get into the WHY, shall we?
What Is Canva Pro?
Canva Pro is the paid version of Canva – an online design program where you can create anything and everything you could think of – social media posts, brochures, videos, GIFs, logos and more! It’s an easy to navigate, online editor where you start with a blank canvas (or one of their pre-made templates) and drag and drop your own photos, text, colors and graphics into it. You can save what you create in all the different file types (eg. PNG, JPG, PDF) or share it directly online with a link.
What Are The Benefits Of It?
Canva Pro has many benefits compared to the free version of Canva.
With free Canva, you do have lots of graphics, fonts and stock photos to choose from however, once you've gained access to the Pro elements and features available, it's real hard to go back to the free version!

Fonts
Have you ever gone through the free/included fonts and felt like Goldilocks? You just can't find that PERFECT font that fits your style?
That's not an issue with Canva Pro!
Not only do you have a wider selection of fonts to choose from, you can also upload your own fonts. So if you download any fonts from sites such as Dafont.com, or purchase fonts from sites like Creative Market, you can upload them to your account and start typing to your heart's content!

Elements
Canva has so many different graphics you can use to style your creations beyond the text. Whether it be icons, illustrations, sparkles or frames, their library of graphics is incredible. Once again, there are elements that are only available for Canva Pro users, so if you want complete access to have everything they have available, you need to upgrade.
One of the worst things when editing, finding a graphic you absolutely love, and then finding out it comes with a pesky Pro watermark over the top of it!

Stock Photos
I use stock photos everyday in my templates to create a cohesive look and feel, but stock photos aren't just lifestyle / home décor photos. You can also find some great mock-up backgrounds for various products as well!
With Canva, you don't have to pay for a subscription to a separate stock image website - because they have a ton of stock photos and mockups available within their Pro account.

Branding
There’s this thing on Canva Pro called Brand Kit, where you can upload your logos, fonts and color palette and organize it all in one place - and here's why I LOVE this feature.
Firstly, for my own branding. This makes it so easy to ensure that all of my logos, fonts, and elements are cohesive in color and style. No more writing down HTML color codes down in a notebook!
Secondly, for my templates. I create various template collections that all have their own look, feel, colors, fonts, etc. Canva Pro allows you to have multiple brand kits saved - so, if I'm working on my Rustic Barn Collection, I can switch over to that brand kit and easily find my fonts and colors for that collection, while I am working on a template.

Storage
With Canva Free, you get 1GB of storage....and if you're a digital hoarder like I am, that's just not going to cut it!
Canva Pro gives you a whopping 100GB of storage - where you can organize all of your designs into multiple folders. This is especially helpful if you're designing collections or working with multiple clients!

Other Tools
Ok, so besides all of the amazing features listed above, Canva Pro also gives you access to a ton more features - that they are continually adding on to and improving.
This includes features such as a background eraser, filters, resizing projects, and most recently - AI image generation. The additional features of Canva could be a blog post all of it's own, honestly.

Why Should I Try It?
Because it's FREE TO TRY! (and I can promise you, you won't want to go back).
Whether you are creating graphics for your own business or working with clients, Canva Pro offers you a whole world of features and elements that you can't get anywhere else, for this price.
Canva offers a FREE 30 Day Trial of it's Pro Account, and after that, their Pro plans start at just $16.99 CAD/month. I have definitely paid more, for less, in the past. And I love that they give you a whole month to explore the platform - because there is just SO MUCH STUFF to check out!
If you decide to try it out - let me know what you think!
Until next time!
